The United States’ President Donald J Trump has applauded the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The two Asian nations went on loggerhead after a fatal attack on the Kashmir Picturesque Pahalgam area administered by India. The incident in question triggered missile and drone attacks from both countries.
Yesterday, a US-brokered mediation process saw the two countries strike a ceasefire. President Trump appreciates the leadership of the two countries for accepting the ceasefire.
“Millions of good and innocent people could have died. Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision,” Trump says proudly on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The US President now pledges to boost trade with both Pakistan and India as a token for the ceasefire and pave the way for a lasting solution for Kashmir in the next thousand years.
"While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years”, a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir," he adds.
Shebaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, has so far appreciated the US for the successful mediation.
“I am extremely grateful to President Trump for his path-breaking leadership and commitment to global peace and for his most valuable offer to play a greater role in bringing lasting peace to South Asia,” says PM Sharif.
Stephen Dujarric, the Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated that Guterres is hopeful for a lasting peace between the two countries.
“The Secretary-General welcomes the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan as a positive step toward ending current hostilities and easing tension,” Dujarric said. “He hopes the agreement will contribute to lasting peace and foster an environment conducive to addressing broader, longstanding issues between the two countries.”
Guterres reportedly promised to exert concerted efforts to ensure restoration of peace and stability in the region. The Indian government is still silent about the ceasefire. Despite several novel accusations of ceasefire violations, there are reports that the ceasefire is holding.
