The Catholic Pontiff Pope Leo XIV has urged diplomatic means to solve the soaring conflict between Israel and Iran.
The US alleged Saturday evening it had struck three strategic Iranian nuclear program sites. However, they have so far denied these allegations, saying they evacuated their valuables from the sites.
The conflict has so far led to loss of lives and displacement as both powers advance their might against each other claiming certain levels of victory. Pope Leo XIV underscores that War will not do good, but rather leave unhealed wounds.
“War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal,” says Pope.
He expresses concern about the plight of women and children, letting leave and diplomacy lead.
“No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons! May nations chart their futures with works of peace, not with violence and bloodstained conflicts!” The Catholic Pontiff concludes.
As tension mounts, Russia has warned in social media posts against US Involvement in the war.
Russia has further warned the US B-52 that it will be destroyed once it reaches the Russian border. Several countries, including the UN, have expressed concern after the US was involved in the conflict.
The US President Donald Trump has so far stated that their aim is aligned with that of Israel, basically to destroy the Iranian nuclear facilities and weapons.
