Iran has accused the United States of protecting the alleged atrocities committed by Israel. Since last Friday, the two nations have been exchanging accusations following an Israeli strike on Tehran.
The US President indicated on Sunday that America is not involved in the dispute between Iran and Israel, advocating for a ceasefire. Esmail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that while not all Americans back Israel, the US remains Israel's ally in its alleged atrocities.
“America will be seen as a complicit partner in Israel’s atrocities. We do not claim that all Americans or even all US policymakers support the aggression of the Zionist regime. But Israel couldn't have done such brazen acts without US,” said Baqaei.
The US has faced criticism for its support of Israel. On June 4, 2025, the US exercised its veto in the United Nations Security Council against a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, arguing that the resolution was deficient in demanding the release of Israeli hostages and did not acknowledge Israel’s right to self-defense.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged a reduction in tensions between Israel and Iran. Additionally, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has emphasised the need for peace and diplomatic efforts.
Nevertheless, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon criticised the UN for not denouncing what he described as atrocities against Israeli women and children perpetrated by Iran.
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, states that, however much Israel is defending its territory against Iran, it is protecting the whole world from nuclear war allegedly orchestrated by Iran.
